Stage 8: Connect & Use
Duration: ~10 minutes
What happens: You connect your deployed MCP server to OpenCode and use your tools with real queries.
Step 8a: Verify the gateway registration
Before connecting, AgentSherpa verifies that:
-
The MCPServerRegistration is accepted
-
The HTTPRoute is attached to the gateway
-
Tools are discoverable through the gateway’s federated
tools/list
oc get mcpserverregistration ${USER_PREFIX}-stock-mcp
oc get httproute ${USER_PREFIX}-stock-mcp
Both should show accepted/attached status.
Step 8b: Add the MCP server to OpenCode
AgentSherpa adds the MCP server connection to OpenCode’s configuration using the direct service URL from the MCPServer status:
http://${USER_PREFIX}-stock-mcp.${USER_PREFIX}-devspaces.svc.cluster.local:8080/mcp
OpenCode’s MCP client connects, sends an initialize handshake followed by tools/list, and your tools appear in the sidebar.
Step 8c: Test with real queries
Now the magic — use your tools through natural language:
-
"What’s the current price of AAPL?" →
get_stock_info -
"Show me Apple’s price history for the last month" →
get_historical_stock_prices -
"Show me TSLA news" →
get_stock_news -
"What do analysts think about NVDA?" →
get_recommendations
Watch how the LLM decides which tool to call based on your question and the tool descriptions you wrote.
Step 8d: The feedback loop
After testing, AgentSherpa asks:
-
Did the tools return the expected data?
-
Were the tool descriptions clear enough for the LLM to pick the right one?
-
Would you change any tool names or parameters?
This is the feedback phase of the agentic SDLC — the loop that connects "use" back to "design."
