Stage 4: Design
Duration: ~5 minutes
What happens: AgentSherpa proposes a tool design for your MCP server and asks you to approve it.
Design process
Based on your stated intent (Stage 2), AgentSherpa presents:
-
A list of proposed tools with names, descriptions, and parameters
-
The data source and how each tool will access it
-
The transport (Streamable HTTP on port 8080, path
/mcp)
For the stock market server, the default design includes 9 tools across four categories:
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
|
Comprehensive stock data — current price, P/E ratio, market cap, 52-week range, company profile |
|
OHLCV price history with configurable period and interval |
|
Latest news articles for a ticker from Yahoo Finance |
|
Dividends and stock splits history |
|
Income statement, balance sheet, or cash flow (annual or quarterly) |
|
Institutional holders, insider transactions, major holders |
|
Available options expiration dates for a ticker |
|
Options chain (calls/puts) with optional strike filtering and field projection |
|
Analyst recommendations or upgrades/downgrades history |
Your role
-
Review the tool list — do you want all 9, or fewer?
-
Suggest changes — rename tools, add parameters, remove tools
-
Approve the design before the agent starts building
AgentSherpa will not write any code until you approve.
